Washington bats quiet; fall to Chinese Taipei 3-2

CHANTILLY, VA – Despite a two-run home run by Oli Keohohou, which gave Washington the lead, the Glory fell 3-2 in extra innings to the Chinese Taipei National Team Monday night at the Westfield Softball Complex.
Keohohou slugged her league leading fourth home run of the season, and NPF record 29th career round tripper in the bottom of the sixth to give the Glory a 2-1 lead. The first baseman drove home Courtney Bures who singled to start the rally after a 31-minute rain delay.
China Taipei took a 1-0 lead in the fourth on three hits including an RBI single by Pan Tzu Hui. After Washington took the lead in the sixth, Li Chi Ching doubled to left to drive in the tying run in the seventh. Tzu Hui homered with one out in the ninth for the game-winner.
Cambria Miranda led Washington with her first two base hits in her first career start. Bures, Keohohou and left fielder Catalina Morris also collected hits for the Glory.
Pan Tzu Hui and Chiang Hui Chuan both recorded two base hits, while Tzu Hui also drove in two runs. Chen Miao Yi, Lo Hsiao Ting and Li Chi Ching also pitched in with hits.
Lisa Ferguson started in the circle for Washington, but got the no-decision in a quality outing. The former Baylor Bear allowed just one run on four hits in 3.2 innings of work. Ferguson also struck out a pair in just 39 pitches before getting relieved by Desiree Serrano. Serrano threw the final 5.1 innings and allowed one earned run on three hits while fanning three.
The Glory struggled against Chinese Taipei pitching as Chueh Ming Hui and Wu Chia Yen allowed just five hits, while striking out 11 and walking none. Ming Hui got the no-decision in the start but allowed just two hits and striking out six in 5.0 innings. Chia Yen allowed two runs on three hits while fanning give.

Washington and Chinese Taipei meet again Tuesday night at Westfield for a 7:05 pm start.
