Riptide drop finale to Taipei, 1-0

Lowell, Ma. – Today’s game between the New England Riptide and the Chinese Taipei Olympic team figured to be a low scoring affair with aces Jocelyn Forest going against Wu Chia Yen. It was every much the battle it figured to be with Chinese Taipei pushing a run across in the fifth inning to take a 1-0 decision. The Riptide loaded the bases in the sixth but were unable to move a run across. Lyndsey Angus got two hits for the Riptide to bring her series total to seven in nine at bats.
Taipei won it in the fifth with three consecutive singles in the fifth. Jackie Pasquerella led off the seventh with a double down the third base line which raised chalk but it was ruled foul by third base umpire Mike Hamilton amongst the protests of Riptide players and hooting of the fans.

The teams play the fourth and final game of the series on Monday at 7:05. The Riptide then play an away/home series with the Akron Racers, returning to Martin Softball Field for the home portion on July 16th.
