ROSEMONT, Ill. – February 19, 2014
– Chicago Bandits GM, Aaron M. Moore, announced the re-signing of outfielder Megan Wiggins for the 2014 season. This will be her fourth season in a Bandits uniform.
“I’m so glad to be back with the Bandits,” said Wiggins. “It’s like playing with sisters I never had for the whole summer. We’re such a close knit family and I can’t wait to get back out there and compete for another championship.”
Wiggins, who was the 8th overall selection in the 2011 NPF Draft out of the University of Georgia, quickly established herself as one of the top competitors in the league becoming a two-time All-NPF selection as well as being crowned the 2012 Worth Home Run Champion.
Last season, Wiggins enjoyed the best summer of her professional career.  She lead the league with 61 hits, while batting .433 on the season, with 11 home runs, 35 RBIs and an on-base percentage of .535. She was also named the Offensive Player of the Week twice during the regular season.
Wiggins’ accomplishments on the field were recognized further, both at the Bandits and the NPF end of season banquets.
She captured the Worth Homerun Award for the second consecutive season and was also named the Mizuno Player of the Year and Louisville Slugger Co-Offensive Player of the Year.  Chicago Bandits fans voted her the team’s Most Valuable Player.
“This is arguably one of the biggest re-signings for us this offseason,” exclaimed Moore.  “Megan brings so much to the table for us, including so many different intangibles that aren’t seen on the field.
“On the field, she is one of, if not the best, players in the NPF currently.  She is a true definition of a 5-tool player and we’re thrilled to have her back on the roster.”
Wiggins is the 10th off-season signing for the Bandits and she is looking forward to getting the opportunity to compete with her teammates again come May.
“I’m excited for everyone who is coming back and can’t wait to play with them again,” she said.

The league, created to give elite female fastpitch players the opportunity to pursue a professional career in their chosen sport, has operated since 1997 under the names of Women’s Pro Fastpitch (WPF) and Women’s Pro Softball League (WPSL).
