NASHVILLE, Tenn. (February 14, 2019)– National Pro Fastpitch and Big League Chew announced a partnership today that will couple the world’s premier professional softball league with the iconic bubble gum brand beginning with the 2019 season.
Big League Chew recently made national headlines with the release of its new softball character, available online now and in stores by late spring. Invented by former left-handed pitcher Rob Nelson, the iconic bubble gum pouches packed with shredded, flavorful bubble gum have become the preferred gum for all ages having sold more than 800 million pouches to date.
“This year we’re celebrating the launch of our new softball character that’s inspired by girls who play hard and dream big and what better way to do so than by teaming up with National Pro Fastpitch whose athletes epitomize just that.” said Big League Chew inventor Rob Nelson. “Big League Chew is bubble gum fun for everyone and we can’t wait to see the teams, players and fans of NPF sharing in that fun with us this season.”
“This is a natural partnership and the timing is perfect,” commented League Commissioner, Cheri Kempf. “We are enthusiastic about helping to grow the Big League Chew brand, and to expose their respect and attention to the female athlete, to our global consumer base.”
Fans can expect to see in-game and collaborative promotions beginning immediately in individual team markets and throughout the 2019 season, as well as the upcoming NPF College Draft.
The NPF season Opening Day takes place May 28 between the Beijing Shougang Eagles and the Canadian Wild of Southern Illinois. The defending Champions, USSSA Pride will open up at the Canadian Wild on June 6, with the Cleveland Comets and Chicago Bandits also opening up that same day. The Aussie Peppers will be the last team to open the season as they welcome Beijing to North Mankato on June 9.
