Hoover, AL..– August 14, 2015 – The Akron Racers squared off with the Chicago Bandits in the opening game of the NPF Championships. The game’s first run came in the top of the 4th on a homerun by Racers Kellie Robinson. The Bandits came back in the bottom of the 4th when Tammy Williams singled and Megan Blank scored.
The game ended on dramatic fashion in the bottom of the 7th with Chicago’s catcher Taylor Edwards hit a walk off two run homerun to straight away center field off of Lisa Norris. Chicago’s Monica Abbot got the complete game win, while Lisa Norris took the loss.
Game 2 will be played tomorrow at 11am at the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.
In the second game of the night, the Dallas Charge took on the USSSA Pride in game 2 of the NPF Championship tournament. Madison Shipman was the star player for the Pride as she went 3 for 3 finishing a triple short of the cycle. She finished with a homerun and three RBI. The Pride finished with 8 runs on 12 hits and one error.
The lone run for the for the Charge came on a solo homerun Kaylyn Castillo in the top of the 7th inning. The Charge were only able to get 1 hit in 5 1/3 innings off Pride starter Cat Osterman who got the win. Lauren Haeger was the losing pitcher for the Charge giving up 5 runs and 8 hits over 5 innings.
Game 2 between the Charge and Pride will be tomorrow at 2pm at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.
