Allentown, PA – The Philadelphia Force have added another arm to their already solid pitching staff by signing free agent Jessica Sallinger, previously of the Chicago Bandits. Last year with the Bandits, Jessica had a record of 12-6, with 7 complete games, while striking out 107 in 120 innings pitched.
Sallinger allowed only 41 earned runs, good enough for a 2.39 ERA. In 2007 Sallinger had a great season, being named to the NPF All Star team, along with teammate Jennie Finch, after compiling 9 wins and a 1.34 ERA in 104.1 innings. She also had 78 strikeouts and 7 complete games. As a rookie in 2006, Sallinger went 7-5, had a 1.62 ERA, all while striking out 48, and saving three games, in 69.2 innings pitched.
While at Georgia Tech, Jessica took the opportunity to write her name in the NCAA record books numerous times. She is the all-time ACC strikeout leader with 1,398, the winningest pitcher in ACC history, and ended career ranked fourth nationally in all-time strikeouts. Her name is synonymous with winning at Georgia Tech, setting career records in ERA (1.12), opponent batting average (.150), appearances (168), games started (152), completed games (123), shutouts (52) and innings pitched (1,008.2). Jessica owns 4 of the top 5 spots in strikeouts per game, never dropping below 9.18.
After signing with the Force Jessica had this to say, “I am very excited and proud to be joining the Force program. I have always had the utmost respect for this team and I feel privileged to be joining this dynamic organization. GO FORCE!!”
General Manager Tom Kleinman, seeing the talent and knowing the experience that Sallinger brings with says, “Although our pitching staff is large, this was a move that I personally have been working on since the Fall of 2008. I was very impressed with Jessica and believe she was a key component to the Bandit’s great year in 2008. This just gives us another seasoned veteran who knows how to get the job done. I know all of our fans will love Jessica and give her a warm welcome!”
