ST. JOSEPH, MO (November 16, 2018) – Missouri Western Athletics hosted the second Fly Luncheon of the year on November 16. Speakers for the luncheon included Cheri Kempf, Commissioner of National Pro Fastpitch, and Missouri Western Soccer head coach Chad Edwards.
Cheri Kempf has professional softball experience as a player, instructor, television sports analyst, and now as Commissioner of NPF. The Missouri Western alum has been league commissioner since 2007 and has accomplished several milestones for the sport during that time. As a player, Kempf was a member of the 1992 USA National Team that won a gold medal at the World Cup in Beijing. Before her time on the Team USA, Kempf led Missouri Western to the only national championship in school history and was a standout pitcher for the Griffons.
Missouri Western Soccer head coach Chad Edwards has built the Griffon Soccer program into an MIAA and regional championship contender. Currently serving in his eighth season as coach at Missouri Western, Edwards is coming off the most successful season in program history and is the all-time wins leader for Griffon Soccer.
The purpose of Fly Luncheons is to connect successful women in the St. Joseph and Missouri Western community to the female student-athletes at Missouri Western. Each luncheon will provide opportunities for women in Griffon Athletics of motivation, insight, and expertise from guest speakers from around the area.
