ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Chicago Bandits have agreed on a one-year contract with veteran catcher/infielder Amanda Chidester, team officials announced Monday afternoon.

Chidester, the 11th overall selection in the third round of the 2012 NPF Draft, has amassed seven years of experience with USA Softball and one season in National Pro Fastpitch.

“We are ecstatic about bringing a world-class player in Amanda to Rosemont,” Bandits general manager Toni Calmeyn said. “Her offensive prowess and steadiness defensively will have an immediate impact on our team.”

Across her seven seasons of international competition with Team USA, Chidester earned gold medals at the World Cup of Softball in 2012 and 2015, 2013 Mayor’s Cup, 2016 WBSC Women’s World Championship and the 2017 Pan American Championship. The former University of Michigan standout led the 2016 World Championship squad with a .591 average and a 1.727 slugging percentage. She added seven home runs, 18 RBI and 11 runs scored in the event.

Chidester burst onto the National Team scene in 2012 when she delivered a pinch-hit grand slam to help lift Team USA over Brazil in the World Cup of Softball.

As a member of the University of Michigan softball team, Chidester garnered a pair of Big Ten Player of the Year awards and earned NFCA All-America recognition twice. At the conclusion of her historic career in Ann Arbor, the Allen Park, Michigan, product ranked second in team history in RBI (200) and grand slams (five) and inside the top 10 in four additional offensive categories.
