ROSEMONT, IL (November 6, 2018) — The Chicago Bandits have signed left-handed pitcher and former No. 1 draft pick Paige Lowary to a one-year extension, team officials announced Tuesday morning.

Lowary posted a 3.79 ERA and struck out 25 batters across 20.1 innings of work during her rookie season with the Bandits in 2018. Primarily working as a reliever, the former Oklahoma standout picked up two wins and three saves through 11 appearances.

Lowary also sealed a combined perfect-game effort for the Bandits with a pair of shutout innings June 17 against the Aussie Spirit.

“Paige impressed us with her composure and ability as a first-year player,” Bandits general manager Toni Calmeyn said. “We look forward to seeing her continue to grow as a pitcher at this level in 2019.”

The Bandits selected Lowary No. 1 overall in the 2018 NPF Draft after she helped guide Oklahoma to its fourth national championship in 2017 and a return to the Women’s College World Series in 2018. The Dallas Center, Iowa, product enjoyed a stellar back half to her collegiate career with the Sooners after she played two years at Missouri. Lowary compiled 18 saves over two seasons in Norman, Oklahoma, and posted a 26-5 record. She earned First Team All-Big 12 during her senior campaign in 2018.

Lowary’s career mark for saves (18) stands as the all-time record at Oklahoma.

USA Softball named Lowary to its Japan All-Star Series roster June 29. Lowary also competed alongside Bandits teammates Ally Carda and Courtney Gano at the USA Softball International Cup. The southpaw tossed eight innings throughout the tournament, striking out six and notching a pair of saves for the national team.

The four-time Cowles Cup champion Chicago Bandits will be back at Parkway Bank Sports Complex for the 2019 season. For more information about the Chicago Bandits or to reserve your season tickets, please visit chicagobandits.com or call the box office at 877-722-6348.
