Bandits Hold On Against Eagles

Viera, FL (July 18, 2017)  – After being rained out on Monday night, the Beijing Eagles (1-26) returned to the Space Coast Stadium to face the 2016 Cowles Cup Champions, the Chicago Bandits (16-14). In the rally, the Bandits scored first and kept their lead for the remainder of the game. The Eagles lineup battled to put runners on base but eventually dropped to Chicago, 3-0.
In the circle, Li Qi (1-8) started the game for the Eagles, collecting three strikeouts in four innings pitched. At the current time, Li counts 35 strikeouts and 14 walks in 42.2 innings pitched. In the 2017 Season, Li has 11 appearances of which nine are complete games for a career ERA of 4.16. Entering in the fifth as relief, Gu Nian Nian (0-0) recorded one strikeout and no walks in three innings pitched, marking her fourth seasonal appearance.
Defensively, the Shougang defense tallies 543 putouts for a fielding percentage of .948. In the outing, Beijing collected 21 putouts and no errors in seven complete innings.
At the plate, Liu Li Li and Chen Jia collected one hit apiece. In the season, Liu and Chen hold the highest batting averages within the Eagles lineup with .261 and .353 respectively. The two players combined record an on base percentage of .662 and 42 hits.
Opening the game with a quick first inning, the Bandits reached the scoreboard first in the top of the second with one run to take the lead, 1-0. As third and fourth went by blank, Chicago increased its stretch in the top of the fifth, bringing home another runner to overlap the Eagles, 2-0.
Entering the sixth trailing by two, the Bandits enlarged the gap once again taking another run and moving past Beijing, 3-0.
Shougang will be back in action against the Bandits tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. EST.
