LAWRENCE, Kan. — The Chicago Bandits continued their offensive success against opposing pitchers during their road trip across Kansas, delivering 21 runs on 29 hits in a doubleheader sweep of the Aussie Spirit on Sunday at Arrocha Ballpark in Lawrence, Kansas.

The Bandits (10-0) uncorked seven home runs across the pair of games, including two from Emily Carosone, to power past the Spirit and keep their franchise-best winning streak to begin the season alive.

Game 1 concluded with a score of 11-3, while the Bandits also took care of business in the nightcap, 10-0.

Sashel Palacios smacked her first career home run in the opener with a towering shot to center. The Arizona State product, who has hit safely in three of her four games since joining the team, earned Vaultz Lock It Up! Player of the Game honors for her offensive display. She finished 3-for-4 with three RBI and a pair of extra-base hits in the win.

Palacios’ long ball was aided by home runs from Nadia Taylor, Sammy Marshall and Stacy May-Johnson, whose seventh-inning blast marked her first since the 2011 season.

The offensive outburst continued into the second game as Carosone’s pair of home runs, plus another from first-year outfielder Jessie Scroggins, provided plenty of support for starter Ally Carda.

Carda (3-0) tossed five shutout frames, striking out four while allowing just two hits to collect her third win of the season and earn Player of the Game honors.

Coley Ries (3-0) picked up the win in the first game of the day after a strong relief effort. The right-hander entered facing a 2-1 deficit and worked through the sixth. She surrendered just one run and struck out five.

The Bandits concluded their road trip against the Spirit with a perfect 6-0 mark. The two sides will continue their season series at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Parkway Bank Sports Complex.
