ROSEMONT, Ill. (September 27, 2017) – The Chicago Bandits have agreed to a 2018 contract with catcher/infielder Courtney Gano, team officials announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Gano, a 2016 graduate of the University of Washington, put together a stellar senior campaign for the Huskies. The West Covina, California native ranked among team leaders in numerous offensive categories, including batting average (.373), on-base percentage (.457) and slugging percentage (.627).
“Courtney is a tremendous athlete and we’re excited to welcome her to our infield for the 2018 season,” Bandits general manager Toni Calmeyn said. “She’s a reliable asset on both sides of the ball and we’re looking forward to seeing her contribute.”
During her final year at Washington, Gano committed just three errors in 129 chances in the field.
Gano’s efforts as a senior built upon a strong junior in which she earned Second Team All-Pac-12 honors after pacing the Huskies with 18 home runs and 59 RBI.
Despite 2018 marking her entrance to National Pro Fastpitch, Gano is not without professional softball experience. After completing her collegiate career, she joined the Italian-based Softball Club Forlì. Gano excelled overseas, amassing a .540 clip at the plate through 18 starts with a pair of home runs and 17 RBI.
The four-time Cowles Cup champion Chicago Bandits will be back at The Ballpark at Rosemont for the 2018 season. For more information about the Chicago Bandits or to reserve your season tickets, please visit chicagobandits.com or call the box office at 877-722-6348.
