Bandits, Finch Knock Off Ice

LISLE, Ill. - Bandit ace, Jennie Finch, took the mound for the home team tonight making her first start since the month of June. Finch dominated striking out 16, walking none and allowing only one hit.

The Bandits had fans feeling déjà vu after scoring their first run of the game in the second inning. Jaime Clark hit a leadoff single to right. Caitlin Lever reached on a fielder’s choice when Ice shortstop Elana Myers tried unsuccessfully to nab Clark at second. Jennie Finch laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance both Clark and Lever 60 feet closer to home. Nicole Trimboli knocked a sacrifice fly to center bringing Clark home.

Clark showed her power in the sixth by belting a homerun halfway up the right field bleachers. With two outs, Finch hit a hard shot to centerfielder Ariel Jenkins. In an attempt to catch the ball, Jenkins dove knocking the ball away allowing Finch to advance to second. The speedy Autumn Champion was put in to run for Finch. With a runner in scoring position, Trimboli singled to center bringing in Champion notching her 15th RBI of the season.

Clark led the Bandit offense tonight going 2 for 3 with two runs, one RBI and a homerun. Trimboli also did well hitting 1 for 2 with two RBIs of her own.

Chicago will suit up for game three of the series against the Ice tomorrow night at 7:05 pm.
