Chicago Drops Ice 5-0 in Lisle

LISLE, Ill. - After playing just one game in the previous four weeks, the Bandits shook off the rust and posted a 5-0 victory over the Michigan Ice. The victory opened a 16 game homestand which will carry throughout the month of August.

Chicago scored two runs in the second as well as single runs in the third, fourth and six innings. In the second inning, Jaime Clark drew a leadoff walk and stole second placing herself in scoring position. Wasting no time, Gina Oaks slapped a solid single up the middle to drive home Clark with the only run the Bandits would need on the night. With two down, Oaks eventually scored on an error.

Starting pitcher, Jessica Sallinger went six strong innings and permitted just two hits improving her record to 6-4 on the year. Sallinger recorded eight strikeouts and walked just two batters during her stint. Amy Harre pitched the seventh inning to finish off the combined shutout.

Oaks led the orange and black offense going 2 for 3 with one run scored and one run batted in. Center fielder, Lindsay Schutzler was 1 for 2 with a run scored and two RBI, while also walking twice.

The Bandits also stole five bases in the game led by Clark who had two. Schutzler, Oaks and Caitlin Lever each had one theft a piece.

In all, the Bandits drew seven walks as a team and only struck out three times. Game two between the Ice and Bandits is slated for tomorrow with the game starting at 7:05 pm.
