Pruis Allows Just One Hit, but Force Fall to Riptide

LOWELL, Ma.- Philadelphia Force pitcher Margo Pruis allowed just one hit, but the Force dropped a 1-0 outcome to the New England Riptide in game two of a four-game series. The Force had taken game one the night before.

Pruis (3-5) was solid in the circle allowing just the one hit and struck out three batters in six innings. She did struggle at times with her control, and walked seven batters.

The Riptide (21-13) scored the game’s lone run in the bottom of the first inning. Pruis issued three walks to load the bases. Former Force Carri Leto-Martin drove in the run with a sacrifice fly to score Shanel Scott. Scott also recorded the only hit against Pruis.

The Force (14-16) mustered three hits off of Riptide pitcher Danielle Henderson (7-3), but could not produce a run. Henderson walked four in her complete game win, and was helped by the Riptide defense, which turned three double plays on the evening.

Jenna Hall, Kellie Wilkerson, and Sharonda McDonald had the hits for the Force.

The same two teams meet for game three of the series on Friday night at 7:05. The game is to be played the Martin Softball Field. After this series is completed, the Force head to Akron, Ohio to face the Racers in another important four-game series.
