Thunder Sloppy Again in Second Straight Loss

ROCKFORD, Ill. – In front of 947 fans at Sportscore One the Thunder committed four errors, as they lost its second straight to the Bandits, tonight by a final score of 7-1.

A lot like Thursday night, the Thunder defense was off its game and the Bandits made them pay. Chicago executed the short game all night long, including dropping consecutive bunts down in the first and third innings.

Rockford (17-9) had two errors from shortstop Jessica Williams and errors a piece by Audrey Rendon and Mackenzie Vandergeest to lead to five unearned runs. On Thursday night the Thunder committed a season-high five errors in the 11-0 loss.

A night after collecting 15 hits off Thunder pitching, Chicago (13-13) picked up just six in the ball game. Rookie Lindsay Schutzler led the way for the Bandits with a 2-for-4 game.

Offensively, the Thunder had several chances, including two bases loaded situations, but they were able to come up with just one run in the game. The team left 10 runners on base. Kristen Zaleski, who was hitting third tonight, and Erin Evans each picked up two hits in the game for Rockford to lead the way.

Saturday’s first pitch with the Bandits is scheduled for 5:35 p.m. CDT at Sportscore One and Amanda Freed is expected to be in the circle for the Thunder. Peaches James is the probable starter for the Bandits.
