Lombard, Illinois - The Chicago Bandits have signed former Saint Xavier and Beverly Bandits player, Colleen Kilduff to play for the 2007 season. Kilduff was named the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, National Player of the Year for 2006. She is the only player in Saint Xavier history to be named National Player of the Year in any sport.
During her senior year, Kilduff compiled very impressive offensive statistics, batting .465 with 73 hits in 157 plate appearances. To go along with her batting average, Kilduff slammed 18 home runs, 18 doubles, 2 triples, 38 extra-base hits and drove in a whopping 82 RBI. She set Saint Xavier records in home runs and RBI. In 2003, Kilduff set a school record with 23 doubles that still exists.
In addition to her Saint Xavier records, Kilduff was the NAIA career leader in doubles (84), total bases (535) and batting average (, 402) along with 45 home runs and 219 RBI. Bandits owner, Bill Conroy, quickly seized the opportunity to sign Kilduff to the team this past week. Colleen provides the Bandits with tremendous offensive capability that compliments her outstanding fielding ability said Conroy. We are certain that her leadership and talents will enable us to fill a much needed void in our batting order, I am also proud to have one of my Beverly Bandits as part of our professional squad he added.
Over the past several weeks, Conroy has been tirelessly working behind the scenes to stockpile first round draft picks in the upcoming 2007 NPF Amateur Draft that will take place on February 17th. To date, Conroy has positioned the team to receive the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th selections the opening round. I think our fans and media partners will enjoy the tremendous team we have put together for them and we will only focus our attention building our attendance and winning the NPF Championship in 2007 said Conroy.
