No Break for Connecticut as Bandits Win 3-1

Lisle, Ill. – With wind gusts up to 25 mph, the windy city was living up to its name tonight as the Chicago Bandits took on the Connecticut Brakettes for the third game of the series. Missy Beseres started in the circle for the Bandits this evening. Beseres’ record is currently 1-0 with three saves. Sarah Pauly took the start for the Brakettes. Pauly has a record of 13-4 on the season.

The Bandits lit up the board in the bottom of the first inning. Jaime Clark led off with a line drive single into right. Trena Peel ripped a hard shot ground ball to Brakette third baseman, Stephanie Hill. Hill fielded the ball cleanly but launched a wild throw to first base. Clark advanced to third on the throwing error and Peel moved to second. Nicole

The Bandits brought another run around in the bottom of the third. Clark led off once again with a hot shot single to center. Clark got on her horse and stole second, earning her fifth stolen base of the season. Peel mirror imaged her first at bat by getting on base and advancing to second on a throwing error. Clark advanced to third on the throwing error and made it safely home for the second time tonight. Connecticut tried to rally back in the top of the fifth. Callie Piper took a free pass to first. Heather Wright, the pinch runner for Piper, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Kelly Kretschman. Wright was able to advance to third on a passed ball. Kellie Wilkerson knocked a single into right, scoring Wright on the play.

The Bandits continued to put runs on the board in the bottom of the sixth. Trimboli led off by cranking a single into right. Christina Enea laid down the sacrifice bunt to move Trimboli over to second. Selena Collins grounded out to short, allowing Trimboli to move to third. Krista Jessup came up with a clutch gapper between short and third, allowing Trimboli’s pinch runner, Laura Harms, to scamper safely home.

The Bandits defeated the Brakettes tonight with a score of 3-1. Beseres picked up her second win of the season and Harre picked up her third save.

The Bandits now hold a record of 27-8 and Connecticut dropped to 24-14. The Bandits will play their final home game of the season tomorrow afternoon at 3:05 pm
