Game Box Score
LEAGUE CITY, Texas The Texas Thunder played their second consecutive 1-0 game on Thursday night, but this time they came out on top to even the series with the Connecticut Brakettes at one game a piece.
Texas, now 13-9 on the season, entered the seventh inning of Thursday night's game on a 13 inning scoreless streak. It looked like the 14th inning was going to happen for the Thunder, but Texas scored the decisive run with two outs to win the game.
The Thunder scored the run thanks to some help from the Brakettes, who fell to 11-6 on the year with the loss. Rocky Spencer got things going for the Thunder with two outs in the seventh. She was followed by a Lindsay Gardner walk that advanced her to second base. With runners on first and second, Kristen Zaleski, who tripled her previous at-bat hit what looked like a routine ground ball to second base. The ball was thrown into the Brakettes dugout allowing Spencer to come around to score from second base.
In the circle for the Thunder was rookie Serena Settlemier. Settlemier delivered her second consecutive solid performance for Texas to improve to 2-3 on the season. She went the distance for the Thunder allowing just three hits and striking out eight.
Sarah Pauly took the loss for the Brakettes and fell to 6-3 on the season.
Connecticut and Texas will play game three of the series tomorrow night at Big League Dreams in League City. Game time is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
Again on Friday night general admission tickets will be 2-for-1 and it will also be Girl Scout Night with the Thunder. All girl scouts and their families will be able to enter the game for just $5 per person
