Bandits Announce Two-Year Extension for Wagner

ROSEMONT, Ill. (October 2, 2017) – The Chicago Bandits have agreed to a two-year contract extension with left-handed pitcher Haylie Wagner, team officials announced on Monday afternoon.
 
Wagner, in her inaugural season with the Bandits, amassed a team-high 11 wins during the 2017 campaign. The three-year veteran and former Pennsylvania Rebellion hurler logged 90.1 innings in the circle through 30 appearances (13 starts) and earned three saves.
 
“I am so excited to be a part of the Bandits organization again,” Wagner said. “I can’t thank everyone involved enough for picking me up last year and to let me continue my NPF career.”
 
After the Rebellion franchise folded following the conclusion of the 2016 season, Wagner signed with the Bandits as a free agent on Jan. 30, 2017.
 
“Haylie was an important piece of our pitching staff last season,” Bandits general manager Toni Calmeyn said. “She’s proven herself at the game’s highest level and we’re excited to see her continued development in the circle.”
 
A southpaw from the University of Michigan, Wagner sports an 18-15 overall mark over nearly 200 innings of work in her three seasons at the professional ranks. The 2012 Big Ten Pitcher of the Year made her Bandits debut on June 1, 2017, picking up the win in a relief effort against the Akron Racers.
 
Wagner recorded five consecutive wins to begin the 2017 season before suffering her first loss in a 3-0 defeat against the USSSA Pride on June 11 She later flirted with a perfect game bid, not surrendering a baserunner until the seventh inning of a 3-1 victory over the Beijing Shougang Eagles on July 18.
