ROSEMONT, Ill. (June 30, 2017) – In front of a season-high crowd of 1,324, the Bandits stormed past the Canadian Women’s National Team 9-3 in an exhibition game on Friday night at The Ballpark at Rosemont.
Breanna Wonderly, who worked five strong innings in the circle, earned the first win of her Bandits career. The right-hander from Illinois began the game on a strong note, allowing just one run through the first three frames.
“I was kind of nervous starting it, but once I started going, everything just clicked for me,” Wonderly said. “It was nice to get the first win under my belt to show the team that I can hang with them.”
Wonderly received plenty of support from her teammates as the Bandits bats were cracking from the opening inning. Emily Carosone, Emily Crane and Chelsea Forkin each recorded RBI-base hits in the first to build an immediate 4-0 lead.
Crane, the Vaultz® Lock It Up!® Player of the Game, added to her impressive stat line later in the game, launching a three-run homer off the scoreboard in right-center in the sixth inning to put the Bandits ahead comfortably, 9-3.
Crane went 3-for-4 in the game with the home run, double and four RBI.
“Before tonight’s game I had kind of a different mindset,” Crane said. “Things weren’t really going my way, so I just told myself to relax and play the game.”
The Bandits will be back in action tomorrow night for a doubleheader against the Canadian Women’s National Team at The Ballpark in Rosemont. The initial game is scheduled for a 5:35 p.m. CST first pitch with the back end of the doubleheader beginning approximately 30 minutes following the conclusion of game one.
