Rebellion Out for 2017

Rebellion Out for 2017

Nashville, TN (January 16, 2017) The National Pro Fastpitch League announced on Monday that the Pennsylvania Rebellion ownership has decided to forego franchise purchase and any continuation as an affiliate team in the NPF.

The Rebellion have participated in NPF action since 2014, with their home stadium located in Washington, PA. Over that period of time, the Rebellion had a combined record of 42-104. They competed in the Championship Series of 2014, but failed to qualify for post season play the subsequent two seasons of 2015 and 2016.

“We appreciate the participation of the Rebellion over the past three seasons of NPF action”, commented league Commissioner, Cheri Kempf. “Women’s professional sports remains a pioneering endeavor that includes challenges, and we understand the Rebellion ownership’s decision to not pursue a franchise purchase at this time.”

“On that same note, the league is grateful for the owners and teams that continue to forge the path of securing this sport at the professional level,” continued Kempf. “We are making positive gains and are confident of the difference this will make in the future careers of young softball players throughout the world.”

Pennsylvania Rebellion players who were currently under contract with the team became free agents upon the announcement of the dissolution.
