WASHINGTON, PA. – July 11, 2015 – The Pennsylvania Rebellion found themselves in a double dose of NPF action Saturday at CONSOL Energy Park when they hosted the USSSA Pride in a double header. USSSA Pride was victorious in both games winning 5-0 in the first contest and 2-0 in game two.
The Pride (18-7) jumped out to an early lead in game one, when a wild pitch brought in Natasha Watley putting the Pride on the board. A GiOnna DiSalvatore two run blast to right field extended the lead to 3-0 in the top of the second.
The Rebellion (5-22) threatened to score on back-to-back singles by Whitney Arion and Courtney Senas in the bottom of the fifth, but were not successful.
The Pride increased their lead to five, scoring in both the fifth and seventh innings. Pride pitcher Keilani Ricketts improved to 4-1 with the mound victory while Dallas Escobedo took the loss.
Game two of the double bill turned into a pitching battle between Emily Weiman and USSSA’s Chelsea Thomas. The game remained scoreless until a Kelly Kretschman solo home run in the top of the fourth gave the Pride the 1-0 lead.
The Rebellion threatened with two runners in the bottom of the sixth but could not reach home plate. The Pride added an insurance run in the seventh on a fielder’s choice. Chelsea Thomas surrendered just one hit in her fourth win of the year while Emily Weiman was charged with the loss.
The Pride and Rebellion meet for the final game of this series Sunday when first pitch is scheduled for 2:35 p.m. Tickets are available at the box office.
