Washington, PA - July 25, 2014 - The Pennsylvania Rebellion, presented by The Coury Financial Group, defeated the Chicago Bandits by a final score of 6-1 Friday at CONSOL Energy Park.
The game began with fire at the bottom of the first inning as shortstop Bianca Mejia slugged a double that scored left fielder Brittney Lindley. Designated player Courtney Liddle followed Mejia’s style with a double that plated Mejia to put the Rebellion in front 2-0.
After a remarkable defensive game played by centerfielder Samantha Garcia in yesterday’s game, she turned on the offensive switch in tonight’s contest. During the bottom of the second, Garcia hit a single and headed for second after the Bandits overthrew to first. Garcia then swiped third and later scored on Lindley’s double to give the Rebellion a 3-0 lead.
The Rebellion catcher Taylor Edwards clobbered a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning extending the Rebellion lead 6-0.
During the top of the seventh inning, the Bandits’ shortstop Tammy Williams drove in a Bandits’ lone run of the night with a RBI double.
The Rebellion pitcher Sarah Pauly, who was making her second straight start in as many nights, tossed a complete game of one-run ball for the Rebellion. She tossed seven innings, allowed three hits and collected two strikeouts.
