HOUSTON, Texas The Texas Thunder took the NY/NJ Juggernaut to 11 innings, before Selena Collins (Texas A&M) won the game with a solo homerun to end the contest at 2-1.
Pitcher Christa Williams went the distance for the Thunder, allowing only four hits in the game, and it moves her record to 9-3 on the season. The Thunder is now 23-11 on the season with two games remaining in the series with the Nauts.
The Juggernaut tallied their only run in the second inning with a homerun by Venus Taylor. The Juggernaut led the game until the bottom of the sixth when Ryan Realmuto (Oklahoma State) hit a double to right field to score Peaches James (University of Nebraska), who was pinch-running for Collins.
The other two hits in the game for the Thunder went to Erin Evans (University of Oklahoma) and Kristen Zaleski (Texas State), both were singles.
The Thunders defense was solid all game, as they committed no errors and three Juggernaut base runners were thrown out by Collins.
Texas will play game two-of-three tomorrow at 7:35pm at the University of Houston Softball Field.
