Stephanie Hill scored in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the Connecticut Brakettes a 4-3 victory over the Chinese Taipei Olympic team on Tuesday night at DeLuca HOF Field in Stratford, CT. Hill singled up the middle with one out and moved to second on a fielders choice. Julie Brooks hit a grounder to the second baseman, and when Germaine Fairchilds hard slide took out the Taipei shortstop, Hill charged home for the winning run. Sarah Pauly (3-0) pitched all 11 innings for the Brakettes, striking out 13, while Wu Chia-Yen took the loss
In the eighth inning the Brakettes were down to their last strike, as Taipei scored an unearned run in the top half of the frame. Aimee Minor fouled off numerous pitches, before delivering an RBI single up the middle, plating Denise Denis from second. Denis slid around the tag to even the game at 3-3. Erica Sobel and Hill also had RBIs for the Brakettes.
The undefeated Brakettes (5-0) will play host to the Akron Racers on Thursday at 7:05 at DeLuca HOF Field.
