Denver, Colo. - National Pro Fastpitch All-Star Venus Taylor was recently named the head softball coach at Bradley (Illinois) University.
Taylor, a native of Illinois and graduate of Western Illinois, was formerly an assistant coach at Georgia Tech University in Atlanta.
The head coaching job marks the second such job for Taylor. She was the head coach for Lake City Community College in Lake City, Fla., before moving to Georgia Tech. At Lake City, her team finished the 2002 season with a 47-10 record and she was named Mid-Florida Conference Coach of the Year, as her team captured the league title.
Joining Taylor at Bradley will be NPF All-Star pitcher Tarrah Beyster. Beyster will be the first assistant to Taylor and will primarily handle the pitching staff.
Beyster played collegiately at Oregon State where she a four-time All-Pac-10 selection, as well as a four-time All-Amercian.
"This is an amazing step in my career," said Beyster, "I am one step closer to reaching my goal of becoming a head coach at a Division I softball program."
