NPF Launches an Internet-Based Talk Show

National Pro Fastpitch and B-Squared Productions in Tucson, Arizona are pleased to announce the development of NPF Weekly, an internet-based talk program that will provide a comprehensive look at the goings-on around the NPF league. It will be available in MP3 format through the NPF website.

The first installment of the show, available now at azstarnet.com, coincides with the NPF season opener with the Philadelphia Force at the Akron Racers and features interviews with Judy Martino, head coach of the defending NPF Champion Akron Racers; Mickey Dean, coach of the runner-up Chicago Bandits; and Stacey Iveson, Arizona Heat head coach. Iveson and the Pima College Aztecs (Tucson, AZ) just won their second NJCAA National Softball Championship in 3 seasons.

“The league is ready for a weekly program that can provide content involving all seven teams each week, keeping fans in touch with the league on days when there are no games.” Baltosiewich said. “The Thursday through Sunday schedule means there are three days a week that the league is dark. Well, not any more.”

The program will feature a player of the week interview, recaps and previews, a coaching clinic, and other player interviews and features. Baltosiewich feels the program will grow and improve as the season moves along, bolstered by each team’s participation, and the involvement of listeners. “As the program grows, I expect to field listener e-mails and talk to league officials about the state of the league. This is a great opportunity for the league to develop a seven-day a week presence, and for me to talk about sports, which I’d be doing most of the time anyway.”

Because of the Memorial Day holiday weekend, the first edition of NPF Weekly gets a late start. Baltosiewich expects new programs to be posted each week on Monday evenings, for Tuesday morning listening by fans.

NPF Weekly will be a great place for our fans to get to know our players and coaches on a more personal level and will provide a nice recap of games and stats in a compact and entertaining format,” commented Kathy Dosen, Vice President of Marketing for NPF.

NPF Weekly marks a return to weekly net-casting for Brian Baltosiewich, who stopped production on his show, Sports Apocalypse in January after 4 years at AzStarnet.com. Sports Apocalypse was the nation’s first internet-based sportstalk program and gathered a solid audience, proving the internet was a viable medium for this type of programming years before it was fashionable.

Baltosiewich will continue to webcast Arizona Heat NPF games on AzStarnet.com with broadcast partner John Dadante. The duo spend the winter months calling Arizona Icecat hockey games on ESPN Radio in Tucson and AzStarnet, and Dadante will partner with Baltosiewich for NPF Weekly shows as well.

As always, Baltosiewich promises to read any listener e-mail on the air. NPFweekly@yahoo.com provides listeners with a direct line to the show, and in turn to the guests on the program. “I’ll read anything on the program, positive or not, as long as it’s appropriate and you don’t try to sell me car insurance.” Baltosiewich said.
