NPF Posts Two Victories in Triple Crown Sparkler

By:
WESTMINSTER, COLO.-The busiest week of the summer for National Pro
Fastpitch continued here Saturday (June 28) with its All-Star team posting a pair of
no-hit wins over teams from Colorado and Illinois in the opening pool play
rounds of the Triple Crown Sparkler Tournament at the Christopher Four Plex.

With their two wins Saturday at the Christopher Four Plex (10400 N. Sheridan,
Westminster), the NPF All-Stars are assured a spot in Sunday's semifinals at
either 1 or 2:20 p.m. With an opening win Sunday, the NPF All-Stars will play
at 1 p.m. in the first semifinal with the championship game set for 4:10 p.m.
Sunday.

The Fort Collins Triple Crown Buckaroos challenge the NPF All-Stars in
Sunday's first game at 8 p.m. The Triple Crown Sparkler Tournament has attracted 118 teams from 20 states. The NPF All-Stars are competing in the six-team pro/semi-pro division. The tournament runs through Tuesday when three more division titles will be decided.

While the NPF All-Star pitchers were pitching no-hitters in Saturday's two
wins, the team's offense scored 23 runs with 25 hits, including nine hits for
extra bases. Infielder Jaime Foutch (Oklahoma State) paced the All-Stars attack
Saturday by collecting four hits in as many at-bats with a double, home run
and seven runs-batted in.

The NPF All-Stars opened pool play on Saturday morning by scoring a 6-0 win
over the Fort Collins Force/TC Diamonds as Tarrah Beyster (Oregon State) posted
a four-inning no-hitter as the game exceeded the 80-minute time limit.
Beyster is now 2-1 this season as she walked three and struck out five batters as
the loser's had only one base runner reach second in the game.

Foutch paced the NPF attack in the first-game with two hits, including a
three-run homer in the All-Stars' six-run sixth-inning to seal the win. For the
season, Foutch is batting .789 this season (15 hits in 19 at-bats) with five
doubles, two home runs and 11 runs-batted-in.

In the second game, the NPF All-Stars scored in every inning enroute to a
17-0 win over the Northern Illinois Lightning of Elgin as the contest was stopped
due to the 10-run rule after four innings Amy Kyler (Cleveland State) won
her fourth game in as many decisions for the NPF All-Stars as she struck out
seven and walked none. In 26 2/3 innings this season, Kyler has not allowed an
earned run while striking out 46 of the 86 batters she has faced.

Outfielders Danielle Cox (Florida State) and Lauren Bauer (Arizona) paced the
NPF offense in the second game as each player had three hits. Cox had a
double and two runs batted in while Bauder had two doubles. Infielder Kara Brun
(Arizona State) had two hits, three RBS and four runs scored.

The Triple Crown Sparkler Tournament is the NPF All-Stars' fifth stop on a
17-city, nationwide tour to promote the re-launch of National Pro Fastpitch in
2004. In addition to posting a 6-1 record in games in California, Minnesota,
Wisconsin and Colorado, the NPF All-Stars have hosted clinics and made
appearances at Major League Baseball games in San Francisco, Minneapolis and
Milwaukee.

Following the Triple Crown Sparkler Tournament game, the NPF All-Stars are
involved in "meet and greet" social functions before the Colorado Rockies' 7:05
p.m. game with the Colorado Rockies Monday at Coors Field June 30. The NPF
All-Stars end their Colorado schedule with a 6 p.m. game Tuesday against the
Triple Crown All-Stars in Fort Collins before being featured Wednesday in a
morning clinic in Highlands Ranch.

A collection of former collegiate All-Americans and professionals, the NPF
All-Stars opened their Colorado schedule Thursday in Boulder by defeating the
Independence Day All-Stars 2-0 before a capacity crowd of 1,528 at Stazio Field.
The Independence Day All-Stars were a group of highly-touted high school
players competing this weekend's Louisville Slugger Independence Day Tournament that features 112 teams from 25 states.

Kyler picked up the Boulder win by giving up only three hits while striking
out 11 and walking only one batter. Foutch and Kara Brun (Arizona State)
leading the NPF All-Stars hitting attack with two hits apiece. Foutch had her
first home run of the season in the fifth inning while Erika Hanson's
run-producing ground out produced the first run of the game.
