Akron Racers Become Cleveland Comets

Cleveland, Ohio (February 1, 2018) Fast Pitch Partners LLC, owner of the Akron Racers, announces a major transformation of the organization.  The new name of the oldest franchise in the NPF will be changed to the Cleveland Comets.  Fast Pitch General Manager Stephen Dunn of Westlake, Ohio, states, “The name change reflects a new initiative to expand our reach throughout the entire Greater Cleveland area.”

The Comets plan to play home games at a variety of parks throughout Northeast Ohio.  Dunn explained, “We are in discussion with a number of venues, including Firestone Stadium in Akron.  We plan to deliver professional softball to as many localities as we can this summer, to raise awareness of our team and the phenomenal caliber of talent in our league.”

The Comets roster will include international players as well as a core of prominent American players. “With the Beijing Eagles joining the league last season, and the Aussie Spirit this season, the NPF is becoming a showcase for the world, not just the U.S.  We are fully committed to the NPF and its vision moving forward.”
