Akron Racers Add Nerissa Myers To The 2014 Roster

Akron, OH—February 28, 2014
- Racers GM, Joey Arrietta, announced today that Nerissa Myers will join the Akron Racers squad for the 2014 campaign. Myers was acquired just ahead of the 5pm EST deadline on February 15th in a trade from the Chicago Bandits for Kaylyn Castillo.

“I am thrilled to have Nerissa join our program,” commented Arrietta. “She has all the tools; offensively she adds more power to our lineup; and defensively she will stabilize our middle infield.”

Myers, the former Ragin’ Cagin, racked up some impressive numbers in her first season of play in the NPF with the regular season champion, the Chicago Bandits. Myers appeared in 39 games posting a .333 batting average. She delivered 11 extra base hits including five homeruns and a league leading three triples to register a .558 slugging percentage. She scored 23 runs and chipped in 22 RBI with a .407 on base percentage.

“I am really excited to get the opportunity to join the Akron program,” commented Myers. “I am really looking forward to the season.”
Myers had an impressive college career at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette. In 2012 she led the nation with 83 runs scored eclipsing her own Sun Belt Conference record of 77 runs scored set in 2011. The two-time All-Sun Belt First-Team selection, posted a .400 batting average including 52 runs scored, 37 RBI, 12 doubles and eight homeruns in 2013.
