Texas State Takes Team NPF To 13 Innings

By:

San Marcos, Texas – Texas State softball battled 13 innings versus the National Fastpitch All-Stars before falling, 1-0. Tonight’s game at Bobcat Field was the 15th stop on the NPF’s Back to School Tour. The Tour is sponsored by USSSA, with the support of Major League Baseball.

Tonight’s game was a nail biter. After back-to-back hits by Coralee Ramirez and Jordan Masek in the bottom of the fifth, the Bobcats put themselves in scoring position with runners on second and third. Unfortunately, NPF pitcher Hillary Bach was able to strike out the side to end the inning.

With seven innings down in the book, Texas State was able to hold NPF to just two hits. The Bobcats got stronger as the game went on, but they weren’t able to get any runs across the plate.

Texas State and NPF kept the fans on the edge the entire game, but it was GiOnna DiSalvatore who lined one over the right field wall in the 13th inning to give NPF the first and only run of the game.

Cat Osterman fanned seven batters and walked one in four innings of work for the all-stars. Also seeing time in the circle for NPF tonight were Hilary Bach and Jamee Juarez. Juarez earned the win tonight after pitching the last four innings.

Texas State’s Anne Marie Taylor did a remarkable job in holding the all-stars to three hits in 13 innings. Taylor struck out a pair of batters.

Most valuable player honors were awarded to one member on each team. NPF’s GiOnna DiSalvatore was named the Schutt’s MVP, while Texas State’s Anne Marie Taylor was named the Wilson MVP of the game.
