Bandits Sign Patton & Williams For 2012 Season

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Chicago Bandits GM Aaron M. Moore announced the re-signing of third baseman, Amber Patton, and shortstop, Tammy Williams for the 2012 season.

Drafted out of DePaul University by the Bandits as the 20th overall selection in the 2009 NPF Senior Draft, Patton has seen time in both the outfield and third base. Patton, who was on the 2009 All-NPF team, finished the 2011 season with 29 hits, a .250 batting average and a .310 on-base percentage.

“We’re happy to have Amber back in the orange and black,” stated Moore.  “She is a consummate professional and we expect her to be a leader this season, both on the field and in the clubhouse.

“Amber definitely will provide us with some options in the lineup with her ability to hit in several spots, as well as the number of places she can line up defensively.”

Taken by the Bandits as the 10th overall pick in the same draft class as Patton, Williams made a splash her rookie season, grabbing the honor of both Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year.

After spending the 2010 season with Team USA and Team Denzo in the Japanese league, Williams came back fired up to be a part of the Bandits in 2011. She finished the season with 21 hits, a .288 batting average and a .409 on-base percentage.

“Tammy is as good as they get in the league at the shortstop position,” said Moore.  “She can hit the ball for some power, play the short game and she is very solid defensively.  After she returned from her early-season injury, she came back and provided a spark for the team.  She is passionate for the game and that is something that shows when she puts on the uniform.”
