Samantha Findlay Does it Again!

Samantha Findlay smashed a solo homerun in the bottom of the ninth inning to complete a come from behind Bandits a 6-5 win. The win also gives the Bandits (18-10) a chance to sweep the Akron Racers (15-12) in this three-game series hosted in Omaha, Neb.

Tonight’s contest featured numerous lead changes, ultimately sending the game into extra innings. Bandits pitcher, Nikki Nemitz contributed to her effort on the mound with her third homerun on the season and second in the last two nights. Nemitz’s homerun, alongside a two RBI double from Bandits outfielder, Amber Patton put the Bandits in a position to take home a win on this chilly, July night at the Cat Osterman Experience.

The Racers, however, battled back in the seventh with RBI hits from Sam Ricketts and Lisa Modglin to tie the contest at 5-5 to send it to extra frames. Modglin lead the Racers tonight with three runs batted in and is hitting .500 with five at-bats and a walk in the series.

In the eighth inning Bandits pitcher, Jessica Sallinger (4-3), and Racers pitcher, Lisa Norris (9-3), were quick to close out their eighth inning batters and push the contest into the ninth inning where Sallinger closed out the Racers’ batters in 1, 2, 3 fashion. Samantha Findlay came to the plate with one out in the bottom of the ninth and crushed her eighth homerun of the campaign, tying her atop the league leader board in homeruns.

The Bandits will look to complete the sweep of the three-game series tomorrow night at Hall of Fame Fields in Bellevue, Neb. at 7:05 p.m.
