Battle Against the Sexes

ELGIN, Ill. - Chicago Bandits' pitcher, Jennie Finch, will be making an appearance and playing for the Chicago Bandits in their second Battle of the Sexes game on Monday, August 9 at 7:00 p.m.

Finch, previously absent during past Battle of the Sexes games, has been on a hot streak against National Pro Fastpitch competition this season, with a 3-1 record, three complete games and a perfect game on her resume.

“We’re looking forward to having the best pitcher in softball compete against the men,” said Bandits’ GM Aaron Moore. “People always debate if men can hit her pitches, so now everyone in attendance will have the opportunity to see if they can touch it against any of our pitchers.”

Finch is no stranger to Silver Cross Field. Last time she made an appearance there the veteran pitcher threw a perfect game against the Akron Racers as the Bandits defeated the Racers 2-0. She held the Racers to zero hits, zero walks and no runs while striking out 11 on her way to the victory. The game was only her second perfect game with the Bandits, her first coming in the 2009 season against the Philadelphia Force.

The Bandits dominated the last time they faced off in a gender battle back in June as they took on the Northern league Rockford Riverhawks. The Bandits shutout their male counterparts on the way to  a  5-0 victory.

“So far we’re 2-0 in [Battle of Sexes] games,” said Bandits’ owner Bill Sokolis. “We took down the Flyers and Riverhawks, now it’s time to beat the Jackhammers. I might have to stop arranging these games if no one can beat us. We almost no-hit the Riverhawks in June. If we steamroll the Jackhammers it might be time to stop the boys vs girls games.”

Exciting suite packages are available for the Battle of the Sexes match-up, offering the best and most comfortable party view of the action on the field. Suites start at just $99 and include 22 tickets. To book a suite or to learn about Silver Cross Field food options, contact Jim Rice at 815-774-2860 or by email at jim@jackhammerbaseball.com.

Silver Cross Field is located in downtown Joliet at 1 Mayor Art Schultz Dr. in Joliet, Ill. To order tickets for the August 9 Battle of the Sexes, contact the Jackhammers’ ticket office at 815-726-2255.

First pitch for the latest edition of the Battle of Sexes games between the Bandits and team’s from the Northern League will be thrown at 7 on Monday, August 9.
