Bandits welcome third coach to the staff

ELGIN, Ill. – Chicago Bandits general manager Aaron Moore announced today the addition of a third coach to the Bandits coaching staff. Georgia Southern University softball coach Maggie Johnson will join Bandits head coach Mickey Dean and assistant coach Mike Steuerwald as an assistant coach on the Bandits staff.

"I am appreciative and excited about the opportunity to work with Mickey Dean and the Chicago Bandits,” said Johnson. “Working with a program and with athletes that play the game of softball at the highest level is an amazing honor, and I look forward to contributing to the success of the Bandits this season."

Johnson became the fourth head coach in Georgia Southern fast-pitch history in June, 2008. The Raleigh, N.C. native led the GSU Eagles to 29-25 (14-10) record in her first season becoming just the first Georgia Southern coach to post a winning record in their first season.

“I look forward to working with her again,” said Bandits head coach Mickey Dean. “She was my assistant at Radford and I feel she’ll be a great addition to our staff because she’s been a student of the game and knows the game very well.”

Johnson guided the Eagles to their fourth straight championship game appearance in the Southern Conference Tournament. After dropping the first game of the tournament GSU won four straight games to advance to the championship game.
