NASHVILLE, Tennessee (June 5, 2010) – The Tennessee Diamonds jumped out early against the All-stars in game one of the doubleheader. In the top of the second inning, Loryn Johnson’s two run homerun extended the Diamonds lead 4-0. The All-stars threatened in the bottom half of the second inning, scoring 3 runs off of a couple of hits from Jessica Ives and Kathryn Young. Johnson was hot from the plate hitting another two run homerun in the top of the fifth. The Diamonds’ bats continued to heat up. In the top of seventh inning, the Diamonds push five more runs across with hits from Chelsea Spencer and Megan Gibson. Pitcher, Samantha Sheeley was able to hold off the All-stars, as the Diamonds defeated the All-stars 11-4 in game one of the doubleheader.
In game two, pitching was the key for the Diamonds. League veteran, Kristen Erb pitched a shutout. Erb allowed only five hits in five innings. The Diamonds were able to easily score runs, capitalizing off errors and base hits. The game was called after five innings, as the Diamonds rolled past the All-stars 12-0.
