All-Stars to Slide into Ohio for Series of Events

DENVER, COLO. – National Pro Fastpitch will spend a busy two days in Akron July 25-26 as a powerful line up of top female fastpitch players will participate in clinics, games, a Fastpitch Expo and a college recruiting seminar at Firestone Stadium.

The northeastern Ohio stop on the 2003 NPF All-Stars is a part of a nation-wide tour visiting 17 cities this summer. The tour will partner with Major League Baseball Clubs in 12 of those cities. Official league play is scheduled to begin early summer, 2004

National Pro Fastpitch is the only professional women’s fastpitch softball league in the United States. Major League Baseball is the official development Partner of NPF. The league is headquartered in Denver, and has been in operation since 1997 under the names Women’s Pro Fastpitch (WPF) and Women’s Professional Softball League (WPSL).

The NPF All-Stars will play a single game July 25 followed by a doubleheader July 26 against a pair of teams. With no presales, tickets are available at Firestone Stadium on game day only. Discounted group tickets are available by telephoning 330/376-8188. Ticket prices are $5 for adults (seniors $1 off with Buckeye Card), $3 for students with ID’s and $2 for children.

In addition to the three games, the NPF All-Stars will participate in a clinic July 25 while appearing the next day at the Fastpitch Expo and a College Recruiting Seminar, presented by The National Scouting Report.

Led by pro all-star pitcher Amy Kyler, the 2003 NPF All-Stars features both veteran pro players and collegiate All-Americans from Arizona, Arizona State and other top schools. A Cleveland State product from Marshville, Ohio, Kyler pitched two seasons for the Akron Racers in the Women’s Pro Softball League.

“We’ve assembled a great group of top-notch athletes for our All-Star team and we’re excited about the competition we’ll meet while on tour. Our partnership with Major League Baseball gives us a great opportunity to bring fastpitch action to baseball and softball fans alike and really show what women can do on the diamond,” said Rich Levine, President and CEO of National Pro Fastpitch.
