Akron, OH - January 27, 2014 - Akron Racers GM, Joey Arrietta, announced the signing of one of the leagues all-time best defensive players, Kelley Montalvo, for the 2014 season. This will be her fifth season in a Racers uniform.
“Kelley Montalvo exemplifies the spirit and passion our organization has for the professional game,” noted Joey Arrietta. “Her defensive skills are beyond words. She absolutely amazes me every night.”
As the league’s hot corner specialist, Montalvo posted a .959 field percentage, including 122 total chances and only five errors. Her 84 assists led the league in 2013. Montalvo posted 33 putouts and three double plays making her the top fielding third baseman in the NPF last year.
The 2012 NPF Wilson Co-Defensive Player of the Year is set to return to the Racers with lofty expectations for the 2014 squad.
“The 2014 season, will provide a fresh outlook for the Racers,” remarked Montalvo. “We have strong leadership in our veterans that will lead us in the right direction. We also have confidence in Joey to select and mold our team into a real contender in this league.”

The 27 year-old is currently in her second season as an assistant coach at Middle Tennessee State University.
