ROSEMONT, Ill. – January 20, 2014 - Chicago Bandits GM, Aaron M. Moore, announced the re-signing of 2013 Women’s College World Series Champion (WCWS), Michelle Gascoigne for the 2014 season.

“I’m excited to have Michelle back in the rotation for another year,” said Bandits head coach, Mike Steuerwald.
“She does a great job of being ready to go, whether starting or coming on in relief and is a great compliment to the rest of the pitching staff.”

“We are definitely looking for her to come in and build off her rookie season and have even more success this season.”

Drafted by the Bandits as the seventh overall pick in the 2013 NPF College Draft, Gascoigne signed her first professional contract just days after pitching the Oklahoma Sooners to the national championship.

In nine starts for the Bandits, she posted a 6-1 record with an ERA of 1.92 allowing just 59 hits and 22 runs while striking out 41 batters in 65.2 innings pitched.

“I’m so looking forward to being back with the Bandits come June,” said Gascoigne. “I know my teammates and I are anxious to get back to Rosemont and start working towards bringing another NPF championship home.”

Posting numbers that put her in the top five among the best pitchers in the league, Gascoigne was named to the 2013 All-NPF squad at the NPF Awards Banquet.

Gascoigne is spending the off-season in Norman, Okla., where she is serving as an undergraduate assistant coach for the Sooners as well as student teaching in order to complete her degree in Elementary Education.
