Rebellion Inaugural Coaching Staff Announced

The Pennsylvania Rebellion

Washington, PA - March 7, 2014 - The Pennsylvania Rebellion are pleased to announce that the organization has added three experienced coaches to complete their 2014 inaugural season staff.

Head Coach Rick Bertagnolli will see a familiar face in the clubhouse as the manager will be joined by his assistant coach at California University of Pennsylvania (CalU), Stephani Moore. Moore, who has been with the Vulcans for seven seasons, works with the team’s pitchers and outfielders.

Prior to CalU, Moore led the Presidents of Washington and Jefferson College, a Division III school minutes away from CONSOL Energy Park. During her tenure at W&J, she guided the team to a 25-15 mark cultivating with the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) crown in 2006 and back-to-back appearances in the ECAC Championship game.

Besides her lengthy coaching resume, Moore was an outstanding pitcher and outfielder for the Robert Morris University Colonials. She finished her collegiate playing career amongst the all-time Colonial softball athletes with a .315 batting average on the offensive side and 39 wings, a 2.92 ERA, 510 1/3 innings pitched and 59 complete games on the mound.

Additionally, Stacey Rice, an assistant coach at Slippery Rock University will also be on staff for the Rebellion. Since joining The Rock, Rice’s alma mater, in 2011, she helped guide Slippery Rock to a 16-17 overall record in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West. During her first season coaching at the collegiate level, Rice also shared her coaching philosophies and tips as an assistant coach with North Allegheny High School.

As a player, Rice remains in the university’s softball record book in eight different statistical categories and is remembered as one of the school’s most powerful hitters to ever sport the Green and White. She is also set the school’s all-time records for runs scored (143), hits (186), doubles (35), total bases (334), walks (86) and at-bats (511) and ranks second all-time in home runs (35) and RBI (129).

Current University of Delaware head softball coach Jaime Wolbach is the third and final assistant for the Rebellion. In her three seasons in Newark, the team has advanced to postseason play, marking the first time since 2002-04 that Delaware has participated in the CAA Tournament during consecutive seasons.

Last season, UD had a tremendous 2013 campaign under Wolbach. Delaware won 35 games, the second most in program history and finished one victory shy of the school record set in 2000. UD set school single season records with 236 runs scored, 427 hits and 72 doubles. The Blue Hens’ 20 home runs are tied for second most in a UD single season, while their 61 steals also ranks second in school history.

The former Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Coach of the Year served as the head coach at Iona College where she captured the MAAC title in 2010 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the program’s 25-year history.

After an illustrious playing career at Kutztown University, serving as a three-time captain and becoming the first graduate to play a professional sport, Wolbach played for the Women’s Professional Softball League for the 2001 season. Interestingly, Wolbach was selected in the fourth round of the NPF Draft by the California Sunbirds and an independent softball league before returning to the NPF’s Philadelphia Force for the 2006 season.

The Rebellion will play their inaugural home opener on Thursday, June 5th against the USSSA Pride at 7:05 p.m. Season ticket packages and group outings are on sale now. For ticket information, call Brian King, Director of Ticket Sales, at 724-250-7412 or e-mail tickets@rebellionprosoftball.com
