“Danielle is an extremely versatile player that can play many positions.  She also provides some speed for us and she is one of the most-liked players by our fans.”

Nemitz And Galindo Return For 2013 Season

Chicago Bandits GM, Aaron M. Moore, announced the re-signing of veteran pitcher Nikki Nemitz and utility player Vicky Galindo for the 2013 season.

Nemitz, who was the team’s first round selection in the 2010 NPF Senior Draft out of the University of Michigan, pitched her way to the 2010 NPF Rookie Team and Rookie of the Year honors.

“We are excited that Nikki will be back for our fourth season in a Bandits uniform,” said Moore.  “She is a competitor and wants to come in and improve each and every year.

“If she can come in and be a dominate No. 2 pitcher for us in 2013 a lot of good things could happen for the Bandits.  When Nikki is on her game we have a very solid 1-2 punch in the rotation.”

She finished the 2012 season with a record of 7-7 and had a five-game winning streak from June 16 through July 21, which included a complete game 8-2 victory over the USSSA Pride.

“I’m thrilled to be returning to Chicago this summer for my fourth season,” said Nemitz. “Bandits fans are the best in the world and I can’t wait to spend another great season with them working towards another Championship.”

Coming off one of her best offensive seasons to date, the Bandits will look for Galindo to continue that heading into the 2013 season.

“Having Vicky return to the roster is something we all definitely wanted to make happen,” stated Moore.  “Vic is a veteran player that can do so many things for the club.  She has the ability to hit for average and can be provide some sneaky power for us.  One of her greatest attributes is her speed, which is something all teams could use plenty of.

“Off the field, Vicky is just as important to us.  She has been a fan-favorite since her first season in a Bandits uniform and her popularity continues to climb.  We’re looking forward to a great season from her.”

A 2005 All-NPF selection, Galindo saw limited action with the Bandits due to her commitment to the US National Team which included winning a silver medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China. Shifting her focus to the Bandits full-time, Galindo was a 2012 All-NPF Selection after finishing with a .260 batting average including 32 hits, 25 runs, seven RBIs and three triples.

“I’m so excited to continue my ninth season on the team that I started my NPF career with,” said Galindo. “The Chicago Bandits are my second family and Chicago is my home away from home. I look forward to bringing another Championship to our amazing fans and to the Village of Rosemont.”
